Dreams From My Redistribution Of Wealth

In his own words, in his own voice. You can't blame Joe the Plumber for this bombshell now, Senator Obama.

Excerpt:

The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society... and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that...

  • I'm afraid that the majority of the US electorate is too weak to refuse to confiscate wealth from "the rich" by state coercion. They won't care about this revelation, because they are hoping this is exactly what he would do.

  • I watched (listened) to this twice last night and still don't see how this is damaging. He's discussing reparations, and pragmatically explains how there is no way to carry something like this out. If someone can point out how what he's saying is bad, let me know.

  • Pogo,

Don't count the chickens before they've hatched!

Aren't you enjoying these late-breaking disclosure? Not at all too late IMO.

I especially like the the NYT link up on Drudge right now quoting Obama: “I’m not interested in the suburbs. The suburbs bore me.”

If you don't think socialism (coerced redistrution of wealth as an end in itself) is a problem, then what he says is nothing to you.

  • Barack Obama has an interesting speech quirk. Ever notice how some of his words ending in "s" have a little whistling aspiration? (I've heard better examples, but it's clearly audible @.21 and .27 in this recording). No doubt voice impressionists have worked this into their routines.

Kids think it's subliminally cute because it reminds them of gopher in the animated Winnie the Pooh cartoon series, but I don't think Milne would have approved of Obama's socialism.
