It's The Arugula, Stupid

Ace of Spades has invited disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters (the famous, so-called PUMAs) to his site. Amongst other things, they're trying to come up with a catchy slogan to keep McCain's team on message.

Being Clintonistas, they evoked the catchphrase "It's the economy, stupid" that worked so well in 1992.

My suggestion is on the blogpost. What's yours?

  • You mean the post title, not the blog title, yes? Just checking. How about "My First Person is Sexier than Your First Person?"

  • ron,

I'll give you that one. Too bad for McCain and Palin that most voters are looking for competence, not sexiness. And earlier today McCain couldn't even control his own crowd McCain booed at his own event after saying that Obama was a 'decent person.' I can't say I ever remember a major party Presidential candidate in October being booed by his own supporters before (hecklers, sure, but not by his own crowd.) It suggests that things are really getting ugly on the GOP side (if you read the article through it refers to Republican crowds becoming even more hostile, even shouting for the beheading of Obama.) If McCain can't even control his own crowds anymore then it suggests that he would, even if elected, make a very weak President.

And I will reciprocate and say that McCain is an honorable man, but he is 1) wrong about most issues, and 2) has been bypassed by the flow of history. Yeah, he will stick around for another 25 days but this move just shows how desperate they are (I know a lot of Hillary supporters-- I'm a Democrat and she carried this county handily-- but except for maybe one or two of the older voters who have other issues with Obama-- bluntly put, racial issues-- they've gotten on board by now. I know McCain is desperate to find new voters but barking up the Clinton tree has pretty much already gotten him the voters it would get him, and he's still behind.
