Is a great day.

As ever in the wake of a storm, which is death announced for so many people, the day after a hurricane, is awash in sunshine, practically shouting, "life goes on".

Nature is awesome, in its proper sense: fearsome and wonderous.

It can turn on you, making you understand that you're nothing, just one of billions of inhabitants in this world, with no special consideration towards one, or the other.

Nature is the most democratic of life forces, sparing no one because of wealth, beauty or influence.

Never mind.

There is one thing which nature provokes when it tries to wrest life away from you, and fails: you feel happy to be alive.

You feel like you cheated life. And that's the greatest feeling in the world.

Off I go to bask in the sun's rays near my swimming pool. The sun is pounding its invitation card as we speak.

I will be back tomorrow with a new topic, renewed, rejuvenated, and bronzed. And alive.

  • Hope you use an appropriate sun block! Nature is not very forgiving when you get sunburnt!

  • Isn't there a Sophocles line from Antigone, "Wonderous are many things, but none more wonderful than man?"

Isn't the Greek for what here is translated as "Wonderous" a word that could also mean "Fearsome" or "Awe-inspiring?"

Defy the sun for overtanning your brother...
