Exclusives

I will soon be launching three on-going series on the blog, each with a specific purpose.

"BLOGATELLE" -- This series will be a news roundup of what newspapers around the world are headlining that day or week. (Title inspired by Pastor_Jeff)

"MSM MIRAGE" -- Tired of mainstream media's distortions, prevarications, and dissimulations? Me two. Then let's do something about it. Don't kill the messenger, but let's kill the messages. This will be my contribution to keeping an eye on MSM's more egregious news spins.

"5 AMERICANS YOU SHOULD KNOW" -- America is a young country, but it already has a rich history. And my forté is history. I will try to make your country's lesser known history and personalities come alive for you, through a foreigner's admiring perspective.

  • Thank you, I'm really looking forward to all of them but particularly the History. Will you also be detailing some Americans less admirable?
    If there are any.

I will do 5 women first, I think. I am so looking forward to that debut post. :)

Will you also be detailing some Americans less admirable? If there are any.

    Hehe, that was funny.

Anyway, the villains of every country are the ones who are the most interesting, don't you find?

    J. Edgar Hoover is a laugh-a-minute. Now.

    Cheers,

  • Victoria,

Thanks for the nod. The posts sound intersting, especially history, one of my all-time favorite subjects.

If you'd like to share an overlooked Englishman we benighted Yanks ought to know better, may I suggest Chesterton?

And if may share one of my favorite quotes of his, somewhat appropos of your history thread?

"Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. It is the democracy of the dead. Tradition refuses to submit to that arrogant oligarchy who merely happen to be walking around." - Orthodoxy

Well, I find they are interesting in a damaging way.
At least there seemed a National consensus of who was a villain and the main characteristics needed to qualify as one some time ago.
I don't know that our society is now able to agree on anything, let alone it's villains.
Who will History point toward? Must 100 years pass before we settle the question? Even then, every villain has it's champion arguing the point.
To me J. Edgar was a hero in his time and in the context of what the FBI did or were perceived able to do he should still be a hero.
In truth? I have no idea how he is being conveyed to students now. And in school we are branded with who was a hero or villain.
I hope you eventually cover him.
