This Is The Face Of The Democratic Party

And it's filled with hate.

IN THE COMMENTS: Eli Blake, one of my more liberal commenters and friends, has taken exception to using this photograph of Medea Benjamin, founder of the Code Pink organisation, as the "face of the Democratic Party". Very well. If that doesn't please, perhaps this will.

Sandra Bernhard, Democrat? Check. Filled with hate? Check.

The screencapture alone should fill anyone with disgust, let alone listening to what she says.

  • Those earrings do not go with that dress!

    I'm speechless!

    Heheheee!

  • I always thought that the "pink" thing was clever.

    The message looses something though.

(But by all means, let them continue!)

  • I'm disappointed in you, Victoria. This is a very low class post from a usually high class blogger.

That looks like one of those morons from Code Pink who got into the convention hall during the GOP convention (which highlighted the weeklong failures of the Minnesota security officers-- the police did a far better job in Denver.) In case you missed it, Code Pink is NOT an organization with any kind of official ties to the Democratic party (ask Hillary Clinton about that after the grief they've singled her out for ever since 2002.) Its members may include some Democrats (though they also include some Greens, Naderites, anarchists and others) but for you to suggest that this is the face of the Democratic party is about as accurate as if I held out members of the Mississippi white knights of the KKK (who have in fact urged people to vote for McCain this year link here) as representative of the Republican Party.

Or do you accept any dope who hates the other guy as the 'face of your party?' Because if you are honestly sinking to that level I could find a lot more examples of hatemongers who support McCain (recently we had a 'mini-scandal' here in Arizona in which it was revealed that a neo-nazi named J.T. Ready has been elected as a Republican precinct committeeman and has worked on anti-immigration stuff.) Just today, in fact, a man was picked up with a gun near Obama's house. I'm not keeping score because it doesn't matter, but I suspect there are more hatemongers on your side than our side, to be blunt about it.

If this individual was someone who actually did have authority in the Democratic party you'd have a case, but extremists come in all stripes and election season brings out the worst of them.

  • LOL! Great pairing of photos/headers!

I was really creeped out by that Sandra Bernhart clip-- even knowing she is completely insane. I saw her on Isaac Mizrahi's (short-lived) show a few years ago and she was on a rant like that about Bush. Isaac was desperately trying to get her to shut up, and she just wouldn't. She just kept going and going, and the audience had gone silent, except for a few nervous laughs. That had to be a pretty anti-Bush crowd, and even they were scared by her.

  • I donno. There sure seems to be a lot of "she's not a real woman" stuff going on.

It might not be the face of the Democratic Party but it's not exactly fringe, either.

It seems one can not be an authentic woman unless one wants to rip babies untimely from the womb.
