Question

Do those of you using a browser other than the dread Internet Explorer, see my sidebar in various colours, not just the light blue?

Since I only use IE, I didn't notice until I came to the University lab, that it's basically one-tone, not the oranges, and greens which are visible on IE!

IN THE COMMENTS: Lots of readers say they confirm that the colours are all light-blue whilst using any browser other than IE. It's a technical point, but I want you to see the blog in its correct, and carefully applied colour schematic.

The 16 basic hex HTML codes didn't work, so it might just be an IE "thing". Ah well.

As a curiosity, I checked which browsers Sundries readers used.

Here is the result.

The vast majority of us (counting myself) use IE, but I was favourably impressed with Firefox's percentage, as well as dead-in-the-water Safari.

Or so I thought!

I know I should use Firefox, but I am nothing if not conservative.

  • Victoria, I use Firefox and all I see is the light blue...helpful?

  • I'm on Mac OS X and I just checked your site using Safari, Opera, and Firefox along with 3 other Firefox-related browsers. Your sidebar has just the light blue in each of those browsers.

  • I, too, use Safari (don't tell the senate, they are big fans of microsoft) and I too see only blue, though it's really more gray.

  • I don't understand your question. I use Firefox and Flock, they both look like everybody on the comments mentioned. I went back and used IE and it looks the same. Oranges? Only the post titles are orange

  • oh wait a minute, I see the tiny little x's that make up your blogroll are green in IE and blue in Firefox and also the title "just arrived" is orange in IE and grey in Firefox. But those are very small differences.

  • I see skies of blue
    and clouds of white
    The bright blessed day,
    the dark sacred night
    And I think to myself,
    what a wonderful blog

    Yes, it is Ron. :)

Unfortunately, I tried at the lab to change that, but I believe it has something to do with the Hex codes, as read by Firefox.

There are apparently 16 stable codes, but when I changed the orangey "Just arrived" to the red one, it STILL didn't show up on Firefox...

    Cheers,

  • Ooh, another Paul. Welcome. ;)

Yes, I don't understand what it could be.

Maybe just a technicality, but I took great care over the star-icons, and the colour scheme of the blog, and I hate it not showing up in Firefox.

I will check to see how many of you use Firefox, et al. to see if I should perhaps change the codes.

    Cheers,
    Victoria

Is that why they took Mr. Gates to court? ;)

and I too see only blue, though it's really more gray.

Thanks, Yer Honer -- knock 'em dead!

    Thanks for helping out, Jorge.

    Happy New Years. :)

P.S.: Another thing I noticed is that the first star of the Night Table sidebar is very small, and altered in look.

And the font size differs, so I changed that.

Should show up correctly on Firefox now...maybe.

    This sucks. I'm a perfectionist...

  • IE is teh ghey.
There is a slight difference between Firefox & IE. In IE the little crosses/stars are green but they are blue, the same as the text, in Firefox.
I noticed that smaller cross/star in the Night Table section as well.
But seeing as I never read your blog, it's not much of a problem ;-)

  • Now that I've read other comments and taken a closer look, I want to clarify that the sidebar background is light gray and the headings are dark gray. The link text is all light blue, but I see now that the little X's next to the links are green.

By Blogger Paul, at Fri Jan 06, 07:31:00 am GMT-5

  • all grey....you could try here for colours.

  • Am I the only reader that uses two cups and a taut string?

  • I use Avant Browser which runs on the IE engine. I see only light blue.

So I opened my old Opera browser to take a look. Just light blue there. Try Firefox (I have it, but I don't really care for it.)

No change here, either. Light blue.

    Hmmmmm . . .

  • I don't know what I was thinking. Sheesh!

In Avant, the sidebar bg is gray, the 'x-es' are green, link text is light blue, the scroll bars are light blue - that's what I kept checking.

    Jeepers, what a yutz!

    Yes, yes it is. Crunt.

    Precisely.

I actually went to the trouble of customising my blog, and it gets on my tits that non-IE users can't see my handiwork.

But seeing as I never read your blog, it's not much of a problem ;-)

Isn't he amusing? I could just squeeze the life out of him, he's so twee.

Now help me with a solution? ;)

Extraordinary! They won a competition for that.

Next time I'm at the lab, I'll give it a whirl.

    Thanks, ML. ;)

Oh good. This Avant browser sounds great.

If I get a new computer, and let's face it, my 5 year-old clunker has outlived its welcome mat, I may just download it alongside my preferred IE.

This is all very odd, considering I started out life as a committed Mac/Netscape user.

    Jeepers, what a yutz!

    I love it!

Very Yiddish, which if you check my sidebar ;), you can see I am reading about.
