Labour of Love Day

I hadn't realised The Truth Laid Bear Blogathon donation drive was still going on! In fact, it's going on until today, Monday, 5 September, whch is a bank holiday here in the US.

It's Labour Day.

So with this in mind, here is a recap of the charities I'd like you to donate to, in support of the Katrina Survivors.

And thank you so far to all who have donated, which includes my cousin Gervaise, who said this is the first time he has ever donated moneys to charity in his life (and he did it, because I mass emailed my entire family in the UK to request them to do so. He was the only one, to the best of my knowledge, who did so...).

Blogathon Target Charities: American Red Cross, 1-800-HELP-NOW. Canadian Red Cross (Canadian residents), 613-740-1900. Catholic Charities, 1-800-919-9338. Habitat for Humanity, 229-924-6935, ext. 2551. Click HERE to add contribution info. Blog Name: Sundries. Blogathon Roundup.

Finally, here are some much-needed websites which are housing relocation sites, which can help ameliorate an awful, awful refugee situation, which will go on for months, or indeed, years.

Please research everything carefully before offering your home to organisations, but the impulse itself, on all parts, is a truly noble one.

Hurricanehousing.org (over 128,000 offers to share homes so far, wow)
Everything New Orleans
Katrinahousing.org (30,874 beds available!)

Aren't people wonderful?

More tomorrow with a possible film review of The Constant Gardener, or as I like to call it, The Constant Whine against Capitalism.
