Why I Dislike MSM

Because of insidious balderdash like this.

Anatomy of a Photograph

  • of course, there are all the other people surrounding her, and all the other signs, and all the other countries and planets and stardust. but there's nothing untrue about the headshot of that girl. she's great.

  • 'MSM'? Can you explain this please.
I just see it as MSN, which is obviously wrong.

  • No, Jami. This girl is great.

The other girl is masked, giving a Communist salute, obscuring her face but not her intentions.

If she were a Klansman, I'd say the same thing.

    Cheers,

  • Kully, MSM is Blogosphere-speak for "mainstream media".

BBC, The Torygraph, The Grauniad, NYT -- you know, cu-ts like that.

  • do i assume correctly that the "insidious balderdash" is being demonstrated by the article, rather than the article itself?
i congratulate you an a great blog

  • Ah. I thought it was something like that.
I haven't bought a paper in about 6/7 years and then it was only the Saturday Grauniad and only for the TV guide.
I did mean to buy it yesterday as they had a free copy of 'The Madness of King George' on DVD with it.

    Absolutely.

The blogger took photographs of the same event, and was able to deconstruct (or this case, construct) a more complete picture, literally, than the one shown to us by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Why? Because MSM "frame" stories as they wish -- the better to conform with their viewpoint.

All news entities do that. Left, right, centre.

What makes them insidious, is that certain ones, when rigourously challenged, say they are "neutral". Ugh.

i congratulate you an a great blog

    Thank you so much, Nicco!

  • Ah. I thought it was something like that.

    Aye. ;)

I haven't bought a paper in about 6/7 years and then it was only the Saturday Grauniad and only for the TV guide.

Did you know that in the US the TV guides come on Sunday?

That's illogical! No wonder there's no incentive to buy the Saturday papers here.

I did mean to buy it yesterday as they had a free copy of 'The Madness of King George' on DVD with it.

Poor Nigel Hawthorne. Once the glorious Sir Humphrey. Now cheap swag in nothing more than bumf. :(

    Cheers,
