Pope Benny Und Bretzeln

Did I imagine this last night, or did Blogads' MSNBC very briefly have a Pope Benedict XVI pic, with him holding pretzels in his left hand, and a huge Mass of Paulaner beer in his right one?

AND the day before that, after the x-rated segment aired, MSNBC had one of "Elvis pumping gas".

As my homeboys in Liberty City say, what up yo??

I'm torn between thinking they're going for the confused but quirky teen demographic audience with the porn, fake Elvises, and the Pope who can do shots stories, or by thinking they're resumé padding for their next bigger gig at CNN.

"Yeah, I was the one who thought up the Pope Benedict with the pretzels ad campaign. I know right! It rawked!"

Well, no it didn't, actually.

Because that was just some stupid Photoshop superimposition anyone could do with a third-rate imagination.

Here is a REAL shot that is truly hilarious.

He so looks like Monica Lewinsky.

P.S.: Help! Get Keith Olbermann off of my blog!

  • That's funny I thought he looked like Robert Blake from his "Baretta" days.

    "I'm a-quit-ted!", says Mr. Blake...

You must dispel Olbermann with a picture of Dan Patrick! Then he'll leave.

  • lol! I clicked on that msnbc ad (ka-ching!) and found a funny story: navy wife finds a new man-nequin

COSBY: Now, where does he sleep? We saw some pictures. I see you're holding hands with him. Looks like a very romantic moment here. ... Where does he stay? I saw some pictures of him sleeping in the bed with you. Do you bring him with you, spend time with him everywhere?

WALKER: No. I do spend a lot of time with him, just like it is my husband, because it reminds me of him, but he sleeps on the couch. I live alone, so I want people to think that I'm here. But I only slept with him one night.

  • Funny, when I first read the 'get Olbermann of my blog' I thought you were referring to this post rather than the ad.

    This post is very 'Oddball'-ish.

He's idiotic in his politics (Olbermann that is, not Benedict XVI), but he has a terrific eye for the absurd and was a fantastic sportscaster (especially when he was a local market L.A., CA anchor on channel 5)

  • Poor Victoria: At least on (at least) one other blog, the ad featuring Keith was topped with one for Rogaine. Which (again) at least provided comic relief.

XWL's right on all counts in his comments, though, for sure. Can't abide him in his current incarnation, however, except for some of the oddball stuff. It's just that I can rarely get that far anymore.

    *LOL!*

Yeah, Dan Patrick is the only person there to raise his hackles, since Patrick can actually talk about other "stuff" other than sports, as well.

    Cheers,
    Victoria

See what I mean! They're looney.

Yes, I had seen that earlier too, and was CREEPED out by that photo of her and her erm, "man".

it is my husband, because it reminds me of him, but he sleeps on the couch.

    Unintended comedy gold.

    Cheers,

    Heh.

    This post is very 'Oddball'-ish.

Countdown Number 2: XWL in love.

    He's idiotic in his politics

He and Stewart are two I refuse to watch (any more, I used to).

(Olbermann that is, not Benedict XVI), but he has a terrific eye for the absurd and was a fantastic sportscaster (especially when he was a local market L.A., CA anchor on channel 5)

Yes, he's not a dumb person by any means, but like many people, he feels if he uses comedy to point out "truth" that'll be better received.

This may explain why the latest stand-up comics are sucking their careers away with Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS).

P.S.: You always do this to me! You post funny, and I reply serious.

    Cheers,
    Victoria

Are you sure it wasn't Marv Albert?

XWL's right on all counts in his comments, though, for sure.

    Yes, absolutely.

Can't abide him in his current incarnation, however, except for some of the oddball stuff. It's just that I can rarely get that far anymore.

    Me too. :(

And I resent that -- because he is so nasty towards my values, I have lost a newscaster/commenter I liked.

    Like Jack Cafferty...

    Cheers,
    Victoria

  • I need to troll over at some lefty sites, I get soooooo uncomfortable when too many people agree with me.

(which might partially explain why I'm a socially permissive, fiscally conservative, pro defense, pro civil liberties conservative/libertarian, I can piss off anyone with some of my thoughts)
