The Ides of March

I've been out of commission due to the continuing saga of my Spring Cleaning.

At around 2 AM, I was still at it (I tell you, when I get a project going, I don't like to stop lest my enthusiasm/patience runs out), and that's when disaster struck.

I was handling some of my beloved crystal goblets, when one disintegrated in my hand, cutting me deeply enough to require a stitch at the local ER.

Don't worry!

I'm fine.

It's just that I spent a rather hectic day during the ill-fated Ides of March, on top of being one-handed.

So now you know.

I'll be back up to speed on Friday. I'm cooking up a tasty post for you, you wait!

  • Victoria, your love and dedication for us is becoming legendary. One has only to envision you, hand wrapped, taped and molded so that only one digit is usable (index, not the other) just like a pro football quarterback, typing slowly, painfully to please her fans. You're the Big Ben of Blogdom.

I'm very glad to hear you are seemingly well. I think though, you may be dismissive of things like personal injury and other things like standing in lines for hours just to get us illicit photographs of a King Tut mask they forgot to send. So, I'm still a bit worried.
No more cuts please, lest the phenomenal amount of life within you dilute.

  • Ouchhhh! Fortunately it wasn't worse!
So are you mostly lefty or righty for a few days? How was the ER service at that time?

    Get well soon!!!

  • Oh Victoria it's good to know you're fine! You don't know your own strength :)

I'm happy to see that you're still blogging but please be careful next time!

I'm very fond of my readers, yes. :)

When I'm not staring them down, and challenging them to duels, obviously.

I think that's the Anchoress! But your point, imaginatively and sweetly worded, stands.

    Hut-hut!

Ah you remembered that one, huh? That's great. :)

    Anyone have some ammonia?

    (Obscure necropsy joke)

    Cheers,
    Victoria

  • Ouchhhh! Fortunately it wasn't worse!

I could've severed an artery, so you're right.

Still, I always look at the bright side of life, and I'm very lucky to have my dad so near me, despite his being incredulous at what I was doing at almost 3 AM. ;)

So are you mostly lefty or righty for a few days?

I actually swing lefty, when I have to use both hands on sports equipment (golf, softball, cricket).

It's on the right, so I am favouring my left at present.

How was the ER service at that time?

It was so-so. More crowded than I anticipated, but not more than an hour wait.

The hospital nearest me closed down, so I had to hoof it to one in Coral Gables (since I wouldn't go to Jackson-Memorial for obvious reasons).

    Get well soon!!!

    Gracias, Jose!

    Cheers,
    Victoria

    Thanks Rennie!

You don't know your own strength :)

    Yeah, that's it. That's the ticket. :)

I'm happy to see that you're still blogging but please be careful next time!

That was the second item I broke (remember the espresso beaker?).

Someone up there is telling me something...

    Cheers,
    Victoria

I counted my large trove of crystal last night.

147 items, including endless amounts of wine goblets.

This for a family of near teetotalers. Go figure.

(But I love crystal, as I once mentioned)

    Glad yer okay, Toots!

    Thanks, Mac! ;)

P.S.: I loved the "Toots". It has a very 40's film noir ring to it, which I adore.
