A Tasty Burger

I am credibly informed by my ISP that they will be shutting down tonight, starting at 2 AM (in less than half an hour!), to perform "upgrades".

And yes, my use of inverted commas does suggest a very cynical view of these upgrades, which I think is just a smokescreen for someone taking the night off. Or worse.

I'll compose a better blogpost tomorrow, but in the meantime, I cannot let a day pass by without mentioning my newest Blogad campaign, over at...

Rantburg.

Rantburg is the more civilised version of Little Green Footballs (quelle horreur!), and truly qualifies as the ultimate insider blog.

Having perused it long enough, and commented even during my off-months on Sundries, I can truly say, it is a pleasure reading Rantburg every day.

It's all the news, without the excess ego-blogger baggage, and a heck of a lot more Joan Blondell, than anyone ever needs.

Welcome 'burger-nation!

    I love that photo. :)

It is the art of cheesecake, which hints rather than shows, that we've lost too in the modern-world.

Now, it's Paris Hilton showing off her racoon eyes in carefully leaked pr0n, or Sharon Stone uncrossing her legs at a crucial moment just when the cameraman got out his lightmetre.

    Bah.

    Cheers,
    Victoria

    Welcome, half (half?? Half-pint?? ;).

Her best films are no doubt, the Topper ones, where she's sexy, but not as floozy-looking as her earlier Depression films.

Not that floozy is bad mind you. I have it on good authority that some men like that.

    Cheers,
    Victoria

  • We Rantburgers do like to think that we've a bit more to say about life, the universe, and all, than just dear Joan Blondell, lovely though she and the various other girls (and the occasional handsome gentlemen for those otherwise inclined) of the daily Rantburg Defender-Scimitar & Times-Picayune may be. Victoria dear, I had to click on your Blogger ad, just to see how it worked. I am glad you joined our conversation over there!

Ahhh. The warm embrace of a blog clique. I love it!

Oh, definitely. Joan is just the icing on that Rantburger ice cream cake. Mmm-mmm.

of the daily Rantburg Defender-Scimitar & Times-Picayune may be.

I'd actually buy a subscription to that, having let my NYT one lapse...

Well, trailing wife (heh), all I can say is, blame/credit my blogdaddy yet again, for leading me to the well.

    JSU rocks the houseboat!!

    Cheers,

Well, I'm hardly something which qualifies as a dirty secret.

I think TW, as you so archly put it, just followed the advert at the end of the comments, without thinking it was a leap into the wild unknown.

half isa shorter form of HalfEmpty

Ohhh. I'm sorry to hear that.

    I'm a Half-Full(of-it) type of person.

    Cheers,

  • Oh no, Victoria, dear halfempty knows me well. While so many are off doing practical things that make a difference (as do you, out in the real world), I amuse myself by poking about, informing myself about whatever catches my fancy. I'd actually been here before, albeit without pushing myself on your notice; this time I just wanted to see how that blog ad thingie worked.

As for the "trailing wife" nomenclature, that comes from following Mr. Wife about various bits of the world, setting up house in the more civilized parts while he did his thing in the beyond, and then following him back again. I've a few friends who are trailing husbands in the same way, although they tend to call themselves other things for reasons of their own.
