Radcliffe Camera

The Rad was my favourite building in Oxford, by far.

Sometimes, I have to admit, the mediæval aura of this old academic town was oppressive for its ubiquitousness.

And though I recognise that the Rad was perhaps chocolate box pretty, and therefore to be dismissed by more discriminating tastes than mine, it still relieved the neurotically chaste spires all around.

Here it is earlier this year, after a flurry of rare snowfall we sometimes get down south.

Magic.

  • I did the tourist thing at Oxford, but none of it made any sense to me until I read those parts of the Prelude, years later.

However, any sense that then was made seems long since to have departed my brain.

    Prelude? Honda? Waugh? Brideshead Revisited?

What you need is a good cicerone to bring it all back to you. :)

Unfortunately, I won't return there any time soon. I used to be a Big Cheese on Campus, as it were -- and I refuse to go back as "blogger chick".

    We'll see.

    Cheers,

  • Is all well Victoria?

All is well, my love. Sorry about that guys.

Let's put it this way -- I've been so busy, I haven't even had time to watch the OSCARS...

Seriously, it's a big deal to me, being so passionate about film, plus the history of the Oscars and all.

When I told Renato tonight that Saturday was my day to pamper myself, with a nice mani/pedi at my favourite spa, man that he is, he pointed out the very logical:

"But aren't spas and beauty salons exactly where the Oscars are discussed at length? Who won what, wearing which designer and stuff?"

    ARRRGH! So true.

I told him there's nothing for it, but for me to walk in with a huge placard saying, "PLEASE NO OSCARS SPOILERS", and hoping for the best.

I'm sure RSS'ers will be laughing about now. :)

    Cheers,
    Victoria

  • "Prelude? Honda? Waugh? Brideshead Revisited?"

Wordsworth. But now it occurs to me that he went to Cambridge! No wonder it rang no bells.

  • Wordsworth.

    Ohh, that Prelude. Right.

But now it occurs to me that he went to Cambridge! No wonder it rang no bells.

PLEASE! We do NOT mention that OTHER University in this blog.

    You're lucky I didn't delete! ;)

P.S.: I'm back! And looking pretty. See my nails? *raises feet*

    Cheers,
    Victoria
