Couric's Palin Interview Tonight

Governor Palin sat down with Katie Couric early in the morning today, and taped her interview.

I always thought it would be shown just before her Vice-Presidential debate, but apparently it will be shown tonight on the Evening News (6:30 PM EST/CBS).

Here is a sneak peak.

EDIT: Video removed due to slow loading of blog.

First thoughts:

I don't like it. I have a funny vibe just looking at this visual.

- The Molly Ringwald look isn't working. The combination of the big-shouldered jacket and updo look too 80s, again. Memo to Palin's handlers, WATCH THE HANNITY INTERVIEW. That's the look you should be encouraging in major interviews.

- Have they turned up the volume on Palin's microphone? It sounds strange.

- She looks too nervous again. Like a bunny scrunching her nose, and hoping no one decides to make rabbit stew that night.

- Her response is weak. There are no specifics, and it's just bipartisan talk again. People are looking for leadership at this moment, not platitudes.

We'll see. I'm not hopeful tonight, though.

NOTE: The President of the United States, George W. Bush, will address the nation at 9 PM EST. I'll be commenting on both events afterwards.

  • Seems all right to me.

  • She'll do okay. No one seems interested in interviewing Joe Biden, to the chagrin/joy (choose either) of the Obama campaign.

  • "There has got to be action taken."

    Hoo boy.

  • MCG: Whew. Okay. :)

Michael_H: Well, actually remember that the latest Biden goofs came courtesy of the Couric Evening News interview. Both the "I thought that ad was terrible" and "FDR addressed the nation about the Great Depression on TV" (hehehe), were on CBS.

Anonymous: Yes, I caught that too...

  • Well, I for one agree that "there's got to be action taken." I think the question at this point is what action at this point. Sorry I'm just not in the Michele Malkin "suck it up" camp at this point.

  • She looks worn and strained. Where's the smile? Where's the verve? Yes, this is serious business, but if they damp her down too far they risk putting out her spark.
