Bon Cop, Bad Cop
Canadian police certainly have an unusual way of arresting a suspect. I won't even imagine the reaction in the US, were this to have happened here, knife and all.

Lawsuit, lawsuit, lawsuit... Lawsuit from the criminal, lawsuit from eye witnesses, lawsuit from anyone who saw it on TV or on the Internet or heard about around the water cooler. All for "emotional trauma".

I am traumatised! I know if approach a policeman wielding a machete, I wouldn't want that to happen to me. I mean, really. The nerve.
Cheers,

That happened in Minneapolis a couple or so years ago. A guy with a machete was standing in the street threatening people. The cops tried to talk him down but it just didn't work. In the end they shot and killed him. The guy was Somali and was known to have mental problems.
And oh yes, there were lawsuits and cries of "racism". (If you've got a weapon and you don't drop it immediately after a cop tells you to, race don't mean shit.)
