Snickering

Ooh. I don't know, Snickers people. Sounds like an wince-inducing combination of:

Hunger + Vasectomy = Hungerectomy

Fortunately, a Hungerectomy is 90% reversible.

UPDATE: Hang on to your breeches. People have been commenting on this Snickers ad campaign, for all of 2006.

But the candy people didn't stop with the wincing Hungerectomy, oh no.
It's gone up in the US the last 2 weeks and plays with their logo, ingredients and "hungry" positioning using made-up words like Hungerectomy, Nougatocity, Substantialicious, Satisfectellent and Peanutopolis. And they were brave enough to not put Snickers branding anywhere - to assume that people could figure it out.

Interestingly, others have their own takes about Hungerectomy, as I did.

One blogger thought it looked vaguely familiar.

Am i the only one that thinks it looks like "HUNG-ERECT-O-MY?"

  • When I spotted the photo first, the word that flashed into my head wasn't "Vasectomy", but "Lobotomy!"

"Can't think? Too much chronic here on Miami Beach? Want some sweet to balance eating 10 bags of Doritos?"

    Yours is better!

  • And my first thought was hysterectomy! Go figure.

Hungerotomy is what happens when you have a Snickers bar!

As "Dakota Fanning" might say, I'm not familiar. ;)

    Yours is better!

    Hurts more though.

    *wince wince groan*

    Go figure.

Makes perfect sense, IR. Neither of us imagine the worst thing that could happen to us, in terms of "down there-idness".

    Cheers,

  • I'll take Nougatocity. Sounds like a hippy tent city in Vermont.

    But my God -- Satisfectellent??

    Cheers,
    Victoria
