Emmenez-Moi

Forget the lizard lounge jacket, ignore the excessively French bad-boy stance, and the fluttering gestures. Just listen.

Why don't we have talent like Charles Aznavour anymore? Where did this kind of talent GO TO? Sigh.

I regret not catching him in concert a few years ago, at the Jackie Gleason, just a few blocks away from where I live. At least I saw Frankie...

I guess 'cause he didn't do songs like Maurice Chevalier did.

btw, I'm down with you on the Steelers. :)

    Obama too.

Aren't Democrats supposed to be knee-jerky about underdogs?

  • I've been having some luck with friends getting them into Piaf...Aznavour? Maybe, probably not...I like him myself, and that's a nice vid, Vic! Perhaps you need a Johnny Halliday post? :)

  • I absolutely positively completely and unconditionally admire Aznavour. I grew up listening to him singing in Spanish, and once in a while a French song. He plays quite often on my stereo...

  • Ron, try Jacques Brel, Patricia Kass, Mireille Matthieu.

Edith Piaf was a holy monster (in a very good way) She's also in my heavy rotation ;)

  • We first saw Charles Aznavour in concert in 1972 and "Comme Ils Disent" was breathtaking, the audience was completely taken in and silent for several seconds at the end.

"Et moi dans mon coin" is a fav too.

As a long time married woman the cautionary tale of "Tu t'laisses aller" never fails to make me smile.
