Welcome To The Katrina Relief Blogathon

Hundreds of Bloggers today, from the famous like Hugh Hewitt, whose idea this was, or Instapundit, who is doing the Blogathon Roundup, to the humble like myself, are participating in a Blogathon in relief of Hurricane Katrina victims, and the sad areas she has left behind, in utter ruin.

There are no set guidelines, so I have made one:

My personal blogging will include HOURLY posts, starting from 9 AM to 9 PM, Thursday, 1 September 2005.

CHARITIES I AM ASKING YOU TO DONATE TO (Choose one or all):

  • American Red Cross, 1-800-HELP-NOW.
  • Canadian Red Cross, 613-740-1900, if you're from Canada.
  • Catholic Charities, 1-800-919-9338.
  • Habitat for Humanity, 229-924-6935, ext. 2551.
  • EARS and ASPCA for pet-relief

  • Click HERE for CONTRIBUTION info.

(My Blog Name is Sundries, and this is the url: http://futuremd.blogspot.com/ to say you've contributed)

As a person who tussled with Hurricane Katrina, I know the pain and misery she caused the state I live in -- Florida.

I'll be writing about that today.

I'll also be writing about the memories my family have of Hurricane Andrew, a storm which until Monday, was the worst insurance disaster the United States had ever seen.

Sadly, Hurricane Katrina left devastation in her wake that may eclipse that by several billion.

All of this is fine and dandy, except this effort on all our parts is as nothing, if those of you who are reading this do not DONATE to CHARITIES.

    Please, please, do so.

Anything, no matter what it is, including if you don't have money, your time, your care packages, old serviceable clothes, anything at all.

People are in trouble. Heaps lots of trouble.

    They need you.

    HELP THEM. PLEASE.
