Grandpa Simpson Hates America?

Kids these days. So much spare time to make up these crazy videos. Thank God.

NSFW but hilarious.

UPDATE: As you can see, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Jr has not disappeared from our befuddled memories. In fact, his 3-day marathon of hate motivated one American to promote a novel news idea.

If there are left news cable channels, and right news cable channels, and all shades in between, why can't there be a BLACK news cable channel?

Well ex-Republican Congressman from Oklahoma and football star, JC Watts, wants to launch just such a channel.

"I'm a Republican. Barack Obama is a Democrat. I am not taking a position in the presidential race, but I can tell you this: If people vote against Barack Obama because of what the Rev. Wright said, it would be unfortunate."

"I don't agree with what the Rev. Wright said, but I've said to some of my Republican friends: 'Guys, it's a whole big world out there and I guarantee you, before all is said and done, there will be associations that a Republican has. You are going to be on a slippery slope."'

I have to say that I'm really disappointed in what he says. There is no moral equivalency necessary here. Wright's words were indefensible no matter who was doing the reporting. This is very much a question of blaming the messengers.

The gripe that a black news cable channel would've "handled" the Reverend Wright story with more nuances is even troubling, philosophically.

What follows next?

Would an all-female news network have been "fairer" to Senator Hillary Clinton, then? Is this where we are as a nation?

America, always a hundred countries which magically still work when they come together, is being rent asunder by these niches and factions more and more, especially with the arrival of Senator Barack Obama unto the scene -- ironically so given his "uniter" posture. Yeah, then-Governor Bush said the same thing back in the day. And look what happened.

On paper, I wish them luck. But publicly and privately, I look at this need for cultural Balkanisation with regret.

  • This is not the JC Watts I knew. I was a fan of his-if not his team-when he played football. He did a great job as a Republican Congressman.

But a black news network? I'd like to ask him... "How exactly, could this person's evil rants ever be made less offensive?".

It's under the bus with you JC.

As for the video...laugh out loud funny... but surely taken out of context. Heh.

  • It just goes to show that you don't have to be a Democrat to have a blindingly stupid idea. J.C, go back to sleep.
