Of Course I Went

(Scroll above for my photoblog. "The One At UM")

Thanks to my friends and kind readers at Sundries, I followed your advice and went you know where, to see you know who.

I am exhausted, as I spent all day over there, taking photographs that may amuse you tomorrow (although not of the man himself -- the security guards were fiercely protective inside).

Here is the video of what he said.

Haven't seen this fully, but he did reference "lipstick and pigs", which made me gasp. It's one thing to hear it on television, it is another to hear it when he's only a few hundred feet away from me.

Another astounding part was there were a bunch of African-American kids who held up signs AGAINST him, and were actually escorted out of the centre. What was that all about?

He stopped his speech, watched them being marched out and snarked at them something like, "See ya", like he were the Fresh Prince of Coral Gables quipping, "Smell ya later".

Very odd and what a contrast to the commandingly elegant John McCain line during his speech, towards the Code Pinkos: "My friends, don't be diverted by the ground static and noise".

Well, I'll be back tomorrow with some cool snaps for your viewing pleasure!

ADDED: From The Miami Horrible's site, some photos to tie you over.

  • I could only watch a few minutes in, but:
    1) Obama wouldn't be caught dead in a foxhole.
    2) I didn't realize Donna Sha-la-la
ended up at Miami. I guess after her stint in DC she didn't want to move back to Wisconsin.

I didn't feel like going through all that again, so I myself stopped at minute 5 (I entered a little late).

    I. Know. Right...

I felt flabbergasted hearing him say that. Like the whole "I thought of serving in the military" thing, which is laughable given that he further noted, "but we weren't in a war, so what's the point."

Oh yes. In fact, on Sundries there is my friend Darryl who worked with her, and indeed, Ruth Anne who received her diploma from her tiny little hands.

BTW, I like Shalala. She has been good for UM, even with her "UM Village" expansion project, in an eerie, politically-correct phrasing of the whole Hillary Clinton, "It takes a village".

She's a huge Clintonite, so seeing her hug Obama was interesting. I note that the two Congresswomen were behind him, where usually it was her, so maybe she demurred.

    Cheers,
    Victoria

  • Hard to believe he actually used the pig/lipstick comment again. Has he been doing it regularly and I just haven't noticed? Is it part of his stump speech now?

  • There's a URL on a sign held by one of the Blacks-against-Obama people. I looked; it's some cult.

  • Jaed, I doubt it. I thought it seemed like a last minute add-on, because of the high composition of women. ;(

    it's some cult.

Takes one to know one, Chuck B... ;)

Every now and then Obama lets it slip that he might just be a little mean and petty. The lipstick thing? Again? And after all these months campaigning, a small group of protesters shouldn't even phase him... "see ya" is not a mature response. (And the whole big ears confrontation with MoDo always worried me.)

  • I can't imagine wasting so much time on such an empty individual. Yeesh!

    Vicks, sometimes you amaze us!
