Wonder Twin Powers Activate

Only the French could take such an iconic superheroine like Wonder Woman, and make a point that no one is invulnerable, in this anti-AIDS poster.

Yeah, where's your magic bracelet now, honey?

  • I always considered it a fundamental rational disconnect to be asked to simultaneously view AIDS as something that anyone can get, and something that can't be caught and shouldn't induce fear.

As far as I can tell, the truth seems to be that barring particular behavior or very extreme bad luck (you'd be far more likely to die in a car accident), a person simply isn't going to catch AIDS. The demand that AIDS be viewed as equal opportunity is a plan to raise money.

  • "AIDS makes us equal."

    screw equality then. :)

I laughed so hard at this post, poor Wonder Woman, I had no idea.

Synova, on the one hand, I agree that it is media manipulation and overstating the case for those with unrisky sex behaviour.

On the other hand, said media manipulation did drastically increase awareness that one had to be careful with casual, unsafe sex -- not just for AIDS, but for the clap, etc.

I suppose when you are young you feel yourself to be invulnerable -- and that is wrong, so point well-taken with Wonder Woman.

But they do have to be drama queens about it, don't they? ;)

    Cheers,
    Victoria

You know, Lindonbro -- I blame Superman.

(Come on, someone had to say it)

    Cheers,
