The problem is, one of them is a ten-year old child and her gesture is cute and charming, whereas the other guy is a 65 year-old man who just became our Vice-President. If Palin had done this on the day, she would've been flayed again as lacking utter gravitas for the role.

So Obama is taking a page from the Bush playbook and 'impeachment-proofing' himself early by getting a Veep that people won't want to see running the country.

The detail?
That Biden, at least, didn't bring his own digital camera to the event. He clearly is using Malia Obama's and probably, in an avuncular gesture, offered to take a better snap for her.
But he's still a doofus.
