Remembering Dr. King
Say what you will about tomorrow's Presidential Inauguration (and this is fair warning to my dear readership, that I will be largely mute on the topic), but even a die-hard Republican cannot help but smile at the wonderful kismet of Martin Luther King Jr. Day being followed by a virtual national holiday for blacks everywhere, on January 20th.
Considering we're a few days away from February, which is African-American history month in the US, it must make a lot of people feel fulfilled indeed.
Here is Dr. King, who is one of my orator heroes, holding up his Nobel Prize, wearing the most beautiful mourning jacket and Ascot tie for the event. How proud he looks. How proud he would've been on Tuesday.
He didn't get there with us, but his legacy burns bright.
