Running Woman

I'm still backing Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg to be the next Senator from New York, for what little it's worth to her, but I have to confess, I do not know what to make of the rumours she has withdrawn her name from consideration...

...followed closely by denials that she withdrew her name from consideration.

It's not exactly her words, but it is being reported as coming from inside sources, in both cases.

What gives? Is this a Chinese whisper campaign from those opposed to seeing her take over from Hillary Clinton? Is this a Clintonian plot, itself? Or did Governor Paterson call her and tell her straight out that she wouldn't be getting the gig, and to save face, she told associates she is no longer interested?

Then there is that other possibility, which I do not want to think about, because I thought she was her mother's child, the woman who had an indestructible iron core:

That she didn't have the stomach to overcome the criticism that comes with public office, in part, because she didn't expect the Democratic reaction of personal distaste towards her.

We wait, Caroline.

  • Caroline looks awful in that photo. But who's the brunette chick? She should be senator.

  • Hey Ophir. :)

That's actually Rose Kennedy Schlossberg, Caroline's daughter and dead-ringer for her grandma.

I wrote a blogpost about her, that actually got linked by Rose to her friends on Facebook.

(Ruth Anne, I heard that your "Bouvier jawline" got mentioned)

It's the most read post on Sundries, according to the stat counter.

  • I didn't quite get the original Rose blogpost. Probably just me.

At any rate, Rose is indeed strikingly like Jackie, but prettier. Rose is beautiful. Caroline... not so much.

Also, why did you support Caroline for the Senate?? You, the Palin Republican?

  • Yes, Victoria, I am quite surprised by this, as I see Kennedy as the anti-Palin. And Yes, I know that you have cited her credentials in an earlier post. If she wants to run for an office first, fine, but appointed with her non-resume? No way.

States should change their laws to have special elections, and save appointments for medical emergencies (or impeachments).

  • Oh, and Rose, if you're reading this (just like you read the previous Vicky post on you): I'd love to have a drink with you.

I'm sophisticated, handsome, athletic, elite educated, and Vicky doesn't want me. I am, however, a conservative (more or less like your gramp).

  • "Rose is beautiful"

...er what? are we looking at the same photos? what i see is an average girl, who is being blown out of proportion because she's famous people's daughter/granddaughter. she's just alright to me.

  • Eek! All these Anonymice are confusing. If you're an anonymouse pick a pseudonym.

By Blogger Ophir, at Fri Jan 23, 02:18:00 am GMT-5

  • She's definitely not "average". If you Google her you'll find pictures of her looking pretty hot.

  • Googled her, and yup - average - at best. that's being generous. apparently she's underage drinking with Lindsay Lohan as well. she's sure heading down a bright path.
