Our Daily Bread

Yet again, our mutual blogger colleague Ron, from Fluffy Stuffin, has outdone himself.

In the latest travellogue installment to his post on Zingermans -- surely Ann Arbor's premier deli-cum-gourmet market -- he highlights that naughtiest of all comestibles, in these Atkins Diet times.

BREAD!

There is nothing more savoury in this world than biting into freshly baked bread, perhaps a pain de campagne like what you see above, with a suitably Catholic flourish of a cross on them.

Cracking one open, your nose receives its hot doughy swirls and you inhale the aroma hungrily, reaching for a knife.

I don't know what person discovered that bread and butter go together like nobody's business, but that person is surely up there with the discoverer of soccer, and the chap what invented zippers.

And since we're flinging hosannas around, kudos to the man or woman who reunited the bread, the butter, and the scalding, rich coffee all together, 'cause you know -- man cannot live by bread alone.

Ron has gone above and beyond the call of duty, with his Zingerdough photographs.

But it's the cookie shots that will SLAY you.

God, please grant me the power to have this yeasty goodness before my hips implode when I'm 40.

Thanks, Ron, ole buddy!

Zingerman's

Man, when it rains it pours, and I'm not talking of the dismal rain we in SoFla are experiencing today.

Ron, my Fluffy Stuffin' colleague, has posted a rebuttal piece on Zingerman's market to my Fresh Market travellogue, similar to Internet Ronin's post below.

As he puts it, as inimitably as ever:

Zing's is not an airport hanger of a market, but rather a small corner, which, over time, has become an every bigger corner. They also go to great pains to makes some of their own goods in a bakery, a creamery, a coffee roaster...hell, they probably make zeppelins somewhere in town!

God, the cheeses, the cheeses, I think I'm in lust.

Of all the views Ron provides of the inside of Zing's, this rather intimate shot, is my favourite. I can feel my tongue running through those flavourful blue veins, right now.

Beaujolais Blue? I want some now!

Fix Or Repair Daily --or-- Found On Road Dead

Not this Ford, baby!

(Click on the link, to see a larger picture)

This was posted by Internet Ronin in my honour, as I had expressed interest in his late father's hobby, of vintage Ford Model A trucks.

Can you guess how old this roadster is? The answer in the link above, will astonish you. My car NOW doesn't look this good.

And since we're on the topic, has anyone on Sundries been to Henry Ford's Americana museum, in Michigan?

The museum's transport collection must be AMAZING, don't you think?

Check out the Rosa Parks Bus, wow.

Although, this I don't get:

The Ford Rouge Factory Tour

Rouge?

Presumably, as in Red State, not as in Red Flag. We all know about Henry Ford, don't we.

UPDATE: Internet Ronin has two AMAZING photos, of other vintage vehicles.

One is a dazzlingly yellow vintage school bus, the kind that Shirley Jones probably used before she became Mrs. Partridge.

The second prompted Ruth Anne Adams to remark:

Oh, my gosh! That looks just like Mater! My kids would freak out to see it in person.

It looks EXACTLY like Mater, aka Larry the Cable Guy.
